Through injury and adversity, the Knicks displayed one of the most thrilling seasons in decades.
Although, coming up short in game seven of the Eastern conference, the team battled hard and became a team New York will remember: a season where the Knicks were 50-32 and finished second overall in the Eastern Conference. This unforgettable team was led by MVP candidate Jalen Brunson.
Brunson, a 6 ‘2 point guard from Villanova, was the team’s leading scorer averaging over 30 points a game in the playoffs and 28 points a game in the regular season. Brunson made history by scoring 40+ points in four consecutive playoff games.
The only other players to score 40+ points in four or more consecutive games is Michael Jordan, Bernard King, and Jerry West. This puts Brunson’s name in comparison with some of the greatest players of all time.
Due to this immaculate season, we spoke to two of the biggest Knicks fans for their opinions on this season. Sophomore Robby Schumacher, said his personal favorite players were the Villanova three. He said, “Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo, are my favorite because my dad went to Villanova, I have been a Villanova fan forever.”
Sophomore George Nikolopoulos, was disappointed with the playoff runs ending. He said, “I’m sad the season came to an end because I thought we would make the Eastern Conference Finals but the whole team was basically hurt.”
Overall the Knicks season was one that won’t be forgotten. Their off season signings will determine if they can have another successful season next year.
