WHB’s Newest Science Class: SUPA Forensics
March 6, 2018
Just because you watch CSI, doesn’t mean you know everything about forensic science. In fact, the Syracuse University Project Advance, or SUPA for short, tells you everything that you will do in their forensics class. From toxicology to document and voice examination, SUPA Forensics covers almost every aspect of the science.
Starting next year, WHB will be offering the class and it will be taught by Mr. Diehl and Mr. Vahle. Before choosing the class, Mr. Diehl wants students to know that if they take the class, there will be tests, quizzes and projects. Taking this class will help those pursuing a career in forensics or criminal justice. But most importantly, students must have an interest in the material, as it will contain mature, college material. Mr. Vahle summed it up, “SUPA is college material, not the game of Clue.”
Although Mr. Vahle and Mr. Diehl already teach on the college level, they are both trained by SUPA to teach the class. Both are expecting around one class of students.
Sophomore Wendy Parra Cuzco says she wants to take SUPA Forensics because she finds Forensics interesting. Although she isn’t sure if she wants to pursue a career in forensic science, she says it will “help me decide if this is something I’d be very interested in doing as a career in the future.”
