Recently there has been a change in the area code for Suffolk County. Its no longer just the bound of 631 its also the bound of 934. For many people that are getting new numbers it might be a weird change.

The new area code might not be everyone’s favorite. Junior Abbi Bennett said, “It sounds weird but that’s about it.” When asked if she knows anybody with the new area code she states, “Yes my aunt but she’s not used to telling people who need to reach her out of area it frustrates her.”

Many people have been saying the area code isn’t very catchy. Abbi say’s “631 just rolls off your tongue 934 doesn’t.” She added, “I just think the next time they change the area code they should at least make it a bit more catchy.”

Some people are really expressing themselves over the change especially sophomore Raechel Reichert. When asking Raechel if she thinks this is going to confuse some people she said, “Yes of course because who really is keeping up to date with it.” Some people really aren’t keeping up to date with the new change so I asked have you heard about it and she states “Nope not until this article”. When asking now that you know about it does it bother you a little she states “ Yeah only because how am I suppose to remember who has the area code 631 or 934.

It might be weird for some people and Raechel very well thinks so she says, “It doesn’t really affect me but its just annoyance.” Raechel added that if she could make up the new area code she would chose the numbers 321.

Even though the new area code may be weird to some, and might take some time getting used to, change isn’t always a bad thing!
