The girls’ varsity soccer team, coached by Mrs. Habersaat, have started the season with a 0-3-1 record. With each game the girls have adapted to their struggles and have grown much closer.
According to the senior varsity captains, Lauren Smith and Jules Robbins, the practices have gotten much more intense with the amount of conditioning they are expected to do. The team definitely has their fun during practice, but know when it is time to get serious. “Losing the seniors last year hurt the team defensively, but so far the team is doing very well filling in the holes,” said Brooke Alpert.
To make it to playoffs, the team only needs a 500 record, which is definitely in their reach if they work their hardest every game and practices. The girls are most excited to play our school’s rival, ESM on October 17th. But their hardest game is definitely going to be Sayville on October 21st.
All of the varsity captains, Jules Robbins, Brooke Alpert, and Arianna Cascone are offensive players, with the exception of Lauren Smith, the team’s stopper. Three of the four captains will be graduating this year, along with three other senior players.
