Swedish House Mafia is having their “One Last Tour.” Why are they breaking up? What makes such a successful group of people end their career at the peak of it?
Swedish House Mafia is an electronic dance trio. Young people all over the world are currently listening to electronic dance music and Swedish House Mafia is one of the first groups on everyone’s mind. Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebasian Ingrosso have put together their dj and producing skills to become one massive music sensation. They have become more successful every year since they started performing together in 2008. So the question is…Why are they breaking up and ending something that is only getting bigger and better so fast?
The real reason they are splitting up is because they want to give themselves an experiment. Sebasian said in Rolling Stone Magazine, “We hope to find ourselves in a situation where we do not know what we’re doing, which is sort of us trying to create some sort of chaos, mix shit up a bit for ourselves.” They aren’t ending their careers. They are just going to do their “own thing” separately and not as a group. Senior Corey Bentz feels, “They should go on tour separately and they will still be great.”
Many students from Westhampton Beach High School attended “One Last Tour, “Senior Marta Sadowska said, “I still get chills thinking about it.” Senior Brooke Rera felt it was the “best concert experience of her life.” Senior Nick Monaco agreed, “There are no words to describe it.” And senior Vinny Gallo said, “It was life changing.”
About her favorite moment on the tour, sophomore Caraiosa Williamson said, “When they played Save the World at the end of the concert.” Senior Jack Murphy said his favorite moment was “the fire works and the confetti.”
There are no negative feelings towards the brilliant and exciting music that Swedish House Mafia creates for electronic dance music fans around the world. As sad as it is that they are breaking up, I’m sure only good will come out of it in the future. As senior Dylan Amy said, “Using Swedish House Mafia’s quote, “We came, we raved, we loved.”
