December 21st! Is that an alarming date for anyone or does it just sound like a regular day? To some, it’s the end of the world and others don’t believe that anything is going to happen. Some people believe that our world will be wiped out; one reason being that the Mayan calendar ended on this day and another being that the sun will burn our Earth.
Most of the students I talked to don’t believe that the world will end, especially sophomore Brianna Moore who said, “The world CAN’T end because December 21st is my birthday, and I’m planning on getting my permit and hanging with my friends!”
Sophomore Jessie Fieldman doesn’t believe that the world end but she said, “If the world is going to end I don’t think it’s going to be any of the reasons that people think. I think that there would be a huge tsunami that takes out the whole world.”
Scientists say that all the reasons people are saying the world is ending are not true at all and are not possible. According to NASA, “The world will not end in 2012. Our planet has been getting along just fine for more than four billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012.”
We’re all just going to have to wait until Friday the 21st to see who is right. Just sit back and watch what happens!
