Westhampton Beach Junior Giancarlo Volpe is entering his final tennis season without his amazing partner and an even better friend, Bobby Stabile. Together, they brought numerous victories to their team, winning their division’s championship two years in a row.
As this school year ends, Bobby is looking forward to going to college at Salisbury University and will continue to play tennis.
For Giancarlo, as he prepares for his final season, he has decided to play singles. “I think now that Bobby is leaving, I think it will be tough to fill his shoes as my partner, and it would be hard to get used to somebody else, not saying that there’s nobody good enough on the team, but Bobby was such an important partner in my life who I can’t replace.”
Without Bobby, the team will face new challenges and Giancarlo will have to navigate his final season using some of the lessons he learned from Bobby on and off the court. “On the court, Bobby has taught me how to be level-headed and how to be in control of my emotions, and off the court he’s a great kid, he is funny, he does so much community service, and he is overall just an amazing person and I’m really gonna miss him.”
As this year concludes, Bobby and Giancarlo have new plans for the future and while they may be separated they will continue to stay close friends. Congratulations to both Bobby and Giancarlo for having a successful career together at WHB and good luck in the near future!
