Comeback Season?

Dom DeLuca and Nicholas Rizzo

With spring sports starting, the varsity baseball team is coming back for revenge after last season, looking to win it all.

Last season the varsity baseball team went 2-18. Senior Captain Ryan Knierman said, “Last year the Pitching was super inconsistent and the defense was atrocious, not reliable at all.” Last season the team had a tough schedule going up against teams with multiple D1 commits.

Riley Miller, Lucas Patton, Kevin Smith and Nick Rizzo are some key players for this upcoming season. Starting the season off strong, beating Islip 5-3 in a scrimmage game on March 24th. With runs scored by Miller, Rizzo, Smith and freshman Patrick Fay.

Led by Ryan K, who committed over the winter, said there’s lots of young talent under the radar including Luke Hefter, Lucas Patton, Pat Fay and Liam Anthony. No other teams know about the young players and the talent they bring.

With a tough schedule ahead, Smith says, “Definitely going to be better this year, players on the team have a drive to win and lots of talent.”
