With two short months left until Memorial Day, many students are looking for jobs to stay busy for the summer. As students will soon go to college, many are looking to earn some pocket change for cars, clothes, or even to pay for school.
This summer, many students are working at restaurants, beach clubs, summer camps or retail stores since our area is centered around tourism. Senior Matilda Buchen, who works at Sportime in Quogue, said she picked her job due to her love of tennis. “I picked this place because I can teach my passion for tennis to all ages.” She highly recommends this place for employment if you like working outside, and if you like to work with other people your age.
Junior Meadow DuBrovin has currently been working at Dockers on Dune Road since she was 14. She said that they don’t really hire high school students, but the owners loved her and hired her.
Another potential local restaurant is Fauna in WHB town, where Carmine Esposito, who is a Junior, works. He loves the job because he gets to work in the kitchen, and they pay very well. He recommends working at Fauna to others. He said, “Their management is really good, and the company surrounding other restaurants around here.” This specific restaurant company owns several amazing eating places around the local area which includes Cowfish, Rumba, and Flora. All of these are located within the Hampton Bays and Westhampton Beach area.
Another option to look for jobs are beach clubs. Sophomore Amelia Hope, said that she will be working at the Quogue Beach Club. “I want to have fun working with my friends, and gaining some money at the same time.”
