The Christmas season is full of desserts that will make your mouth water. WHB students shared their favorite Christmas treats.
Throughout the Christmas season popular treats are candy canes, Gingerbread cookies, hot chocolate, snickerdoodles, chocolate covered pretzels and more. Depending on who it is, some individuals may prefer to make treats and some may prefer to buy treats.
Sophomore Quinn Davis said that her favorite Christmas treat is Peanut Butter Blossoms which are peanut butter cookies with a Hershey kiss in the center, but decorated Christmas cookies reminds her the most of Christmas.
Junior Morgan DeVerna said, “My favorite treat is chocolate chip cookies. I’m not the best baker so I usually use the Betty Crocker cookie mix.”
Betty Crocker cookies are easy to make, just follow the directions on the back of the package. Only three or four ingredients are needed, but adding ingredients such as Christmas M&M’s can make it more festive. Betty Crocker also has limited edition Holiday cookie mixes such as Soft Baked Peppermint cookie mix and Gingerbread cookie mix.
Senior Charleigh Devenney said her favorite holiday treat is hot chocolate. “The treat that reminds me the most of Christmas is Chocolate chip cookies because I make them with my family.”
Junior Chelsea Aguirre said her favorite Christmas treat is Maple Brown Sugar Cookies. The delicious cookies consist of 2 ⅓ cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, ½ teaspoon of salt, ½ cup of unsalted butter, 1 cup of packed dark brown sugar, 1 large egg, ⅓ cup pure maple syrup, 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of maple extract, and 1 cup of chopped pecans. For the Maple icing you need 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, ⅓ cup pure maple syrup, 1 cup of sifted confectioners sugar, and a pinch of salt.
With the two week break, experiment making some of these festive treats. Enjoy!
