Furry vests, flannels on Friday, tall black boots, blazers, scarves and warm cozy sweaters…Goodbye Summer! It’s the best fashion season of the year and we want to know what the trends are in WHB High School.
We asked around the school and found one student in each grade, along with one teacher who has a unique and fun style.
Freshman Bobbi Rifkin dresses based on current trends. She says her style is, “a tad edgy, but always simple.” She shops at Blue 1 in WHB town, Urban Outfitters, Sweats Appeal, and H&M. Bobbi normally wears the same thing on the weekends and school days. Her fashion influences are Lauren Conrad and Kendall & Kylie Jenner. Her fashion advice is to “take chances, shop where no one else does, and create your own style.”
Sophomore Henry James Moreta tries to keep his style simple. He loves sneakers and usually bases his outfit on what is on his feet that day. Henry likes to rock either Jordans or Nikes. On the weekends when he’s out he’ll normally throw on a sweatshirt with some everyday shoes. Chris Brown influences him because he always has clean kicks with something nice that matches the top. You’ll be sure to find him shopping at Ralph Lauren, Nike, Fitch, J Crew, or any surf shop.
Junior Bridget Pamboris is one of the only people who has the guts to wear heels to school. She tries to be unique because she claims, “It isn’t fun dressing like other people all the time.” Music like Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, thrift shops, and the 60s and 70s are what influence her style. On the weekends she dresses totally different, with a sweatshirt, jeans, and yoga pants. She dresses to impress because it’s a way she can express herself and its just plain fun!
Senior Drew Amy, who won best dressed senior for the class of 2013, dresses for comfort and only comfort. What influences his style? His brain influences his style and when he looks at a wall full of clothes he automatically knows what will look best on him. Drew only rocks clothes if there’s a comma on the price tag. He dresses the same on the weekends and school days. Mostly in his plain white tee, snap backs, polo down to his draws, and only the hottest shoes around. Drew dresses for his “people” and as he says, “My style is impeccable and not to be messed with.”
Students say Mrs. Zafonte is one of the best-dressed teachers in the school. Why? Mrs. Zafonte tries to incorporate some new trends but make them classic and her own. She doesn’t wear a trend if it doesn’t look good on her. Her mother had a lot to do with her style because she’s very fashion forward and works in the fashion industry. She always asks her for opinions and her mom is her favorite shopping buddy. They never stop! She is definitely a more casual dresser on the weekends unless she is going to dinner with her friends or her husband. Other than that she spends her weekend in flats and jeans. A little fashion secret of hers is that she has over 200 pairs of shoes! It’s hard to believe, right?
