Each year we see the campaign videos, we see the posters crowding the halls but who are the people behind all this? Who are the people that lead our student body? Each grade has a class president. For the freshmen its Zach Ellenhorn, sophomores is Conner Hickey, juniors is Nora Davenport and seniors is Joe Palagonia. Each of these students strives for his or her grade and has a huge responsibility. Students don’t take the time to get to know and appreciate what these four students really do or how they got there in the first place.
Freshmen Class President: Zach Ellenhorn
Q: As a freshman, was it nerve-wracking to put yourself out there and run for class president?
A: “When I decided to run there was no one else against me so I thought it would be pretty easy, but then someone else started running against me I thought I was going to lose but when I won it was a really big relief.”
Q: What types of things would you like to accomplish? What have you already accomplished?
A: “We already blocked a lot for websites for the laptops and we are trying to fix a lot of the problems on the laptops. Brian Schwartz tried to help with the r3k filter, which blocks certain websites and also tried to help with other major problems with the laptops. He talked to Mr. Fisher about it and eventually got the job done with some assistance from yours truly. We are also trying to schedule more events like the talent show and 30 hour famine. “
Q: Who are your other officers?
A: “Casey Chocklingham, Valerie A, and Brian Schwartz. They have all done a lot; Brian fixes a lot of the laptop problems.”
Q: Do you plan on running for president again your sophomore year?
A: “Yes, because to become senior president you have to be in student government for two years. So if I were to be president for at least two more years I would be about to become senior president.”
