The WHB boys’ lacrosse team looks to capitalize on their 11-6 record last year with many new faces on the team and many returning players. This season, they look to make a deep playoff run with their great chemistry.
The team opened up their season vs South Fork, which they dominated, winning 16-0. The team looks to continue that success into the next game. Sophomore Matt Cain said, “I think the team’s chemistry is great; most of us have been playing for years, and we have a great senior class for this year.” The team has 14 returning players, including three returning starting seniors: Drew Calloway, Finn Drake, and Aidan Arrasate.
Senior Finn Drake, a Manhattan commit, was named to Long Island’s top 100 boys’ lacrosse players. Last year, Drake posted 34 goals and 25 assists for a team-high 59 points as a midfielder, but coach Peters plans to use him in the attacking role this season
Jake Calloway, a sophomore starter, said, “We need to win the games we’re supposed to win, and we also need to upset a few teams,” The Hurricanes play a total of 16 games and would love to get double digit wins and make a deep run in the playoffs and would love a shot at a title.
The lacrosse team faces Kings Park on April 4th and looks to continue its success against a tough team and throughout the season.
