Restrepo is back and is ready to get things off the ground. With the team four weeks into the season, the wrestling team seems promising.
The team is off to a great start going 3-2 at Doc Fallout. With a younger group, they still have time to develop. With Restrepo returning as head coach, the team is looking to continue to hit their stride.
Senior captain Max Orr said, ”Jake’s a great coach and we are lucky to have him back to the room. He brings a sense of urgency to get work done.”
The team also has a new coach along for the ride this season. Former coach at Half Hollow Hills West, Mr.Zenie is joining the Canes’ squad this year. Coach Zenie is loving the team and is excited for this upcoming season.
He said, “Players to watch include sophomores Dylan and Lily Blenk, Andrew Lewis, and Darren Cang.”
Westhampton has a tradition to uphold, and this year they believe they will show that. According to two year senior captain Joey Carasiti, ”I am excited we have a lot of guys who have put in some serious work this offseason and this season will show. I expect our team to win the league duals and to get at least five kids all county.”
With some serious expectations, this team’s wrestlers have what it takes. Follow their progress on @whbwrestling.
