At this year’s homecoming on October 18th, WHB Hurricanes stormed past Hauppauge with a commanding 49-10 win.
Hauppauge came into the game with a record of 4-1 and WHB 2-3. Quarterback Jake Calloway in his first game back from an injury sustained at the HHHW game, ran for five touchdowns and 166 yards on 13 carries as well 109 passing yards and a touchdown.
Before this game, the Hurricanes defense had allowed a horrendous 32 ppg with an offense of scoring 20 ppg. Canes flipped both those stats vs Hauppauge.
Jake Calloway said, “I felt really good about my performance in the game. It was a solid team effort and I think we played really well together. Playing how I did not only boosts my confidence but also motivates me to keep working harder.”
Jake’s return helped the team to get back to .500 on the season giving them hopes for the playoffs. With this win, the Canes currently sit in the 4th seed looking at a home playoff game vs Hauppauge once again.
Sophomore linebacker Andrew Lewis had an outstanding game, recording six tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble. “It felt good to get out on the field and be part of a real team win. I’m excited to see what Westhampton football can do over the next 2 years,” Andrew said.
The Hurricanes win over Hauppauge gives them a major boost of confidence heading into the playoffs.
