WHBGVV Starts Off Their Season Great!
October 12, 2018
With a handful of key players off to college—including four starters—the girls’ varsity volleyball team has had a surprisingly impressive start.
Bouncing back from their first loss against East Hampton in 13 years, the WHBGVV team has won everything since.
With Olivia Jayne, sophomore starting setter, and Ella Donneson, sophomore middle and right side, the team began their season with a record of 7-1.
“Playing with a team with sophomores in three key positions, we knew we weren’t going undefeated but we didn’t expect a loss against East Hampton,” Olivia said.
“East Hampton was a good team and we weren’t expecting that loss. We need to work harder and communicate more on the court,” Ella added.
Junior Belle Smith has also stepped forward and is leading her team to the playoffs. “She is a leader on the court and off the court,” Ella said of Belle. “She knows how to get things done.”
Having a great atmosphere on and off the court, these Lady Canes have a great chance of going far this season!
