Athletic Spotlight: QB Clarke Lewis
October 9, 2017
Junior Clarke Lewis stepped up to the plate this year to become a solid starting quarterback for the Hurricanes.
Clarke has been playing football since the second grade; he was a running back all the way from PAL until middle school. When the MS football team didn’t have a quarterback, Clarke took on the challenge.
At the end of his freshman year, Clarke was pulled up to varsity for playoffs. He then played all of sophomore year as the backup quarterback to 2017 grad Tristan Hogan.
Playing quarterback is not an easy position. Quarterbacks must be a leader for the team, and Clarke said the most challenging thing for him is “remembering all of my plays and everyone else’s on the team.”
Teammates, running back Dylan Laube and back-up QB Jeffery McBurnie agreed that “Clarke is a very smart, mobile, and a composed athlete.”
Dylan continued, “Clarke is underestimated. He was fighting for starting quarterback this season and by putting every bit of effort and dedication he had – he clenched the spot.”
The Hurricanes are off to a 5-0 start this year. We can’t wait to see how far Clarke and the rest of the team will go!
