Caitlin Smith: Commitment to Denver Q+A

Caitlin Smith: Commitment to Denver Q+A

Whether on the lacrosse field or in the halls, sophomore Caitlin Smith is the girl to call. Caitlin is one of the first students in her grade committed to a college. Doing such an early life-changing decision, let’s find out more on her commitment to Denver.

Q: How do you feel being a sophomore and already having your plans set out?

A: I’m so happy with my decision, people say committing as a sophomore is really early but I was certain when I committed. It’s relieving knowing where I am going to school and now that I’m committed, I find myself practicing more and wanting to be a better player/ student.

Q: What scholarship did you receive?

A: As of right now I have 85% for lacrosse but the school hasn’t checked my grades yet and I haven’t taken the SATs so depending on how well I’m doing in school and how well I do on my SATS, my scholarship can change.

Q: What were your emotions when you signed your papers?

A:  Since I’m so young, I have not officially signed my papers until my senior year. As of right now it’s only a verbal commitment with the coaches. Before I was accepted I was nervous but excited. I knew this was no doubt everything I could ask for in a college and when I committed I knew I couldn’t have made a better choice.

Q: How far is Denver and how do you feel about the distance?

A: Denver is a five hour plane ride. People wonder if the distance bothers me but it surprisingly doesn’t, as close as I am with my family distance will not affect anything. I’ll be home for the holidays and I’ll be able to call them whenever. I look at it, as ‘’home is only a plane ride away.’’

Q: Why did you pick Denver as your choice?

A: I love everything about Denver. When I originally visited I stepped on campus and instantly knew this school was much different from the other schools I visited. It has everything I could ask for in a college including a great lacrosse team. The coaches alone are very sweet, engaging and their main priority is their athletes well being. The girls on the team were so welcoming and they really took me under the wing. The nearby town is incredible as are the Rocky Mountains that surround campus. I couldn’t be happier with my decision and I can’t wait to be a pioneer.

Congrats to Caitlin Smith!
