Choosing sophomores Brooke and Jules for a sport spotlight was easy; as freshmen they both made varsity soccer, they’re both great athletes and never give up. “Brooke and I work so well together, knowing where to go and what to do next on the field, our give and goes never seem to fail! We’re the dynamic duo, on and off the field ” said Jules.
(This interview was done before the girls got injured.)
Q: What position do you play?
A: Brooke and Jules – center midfield
Q: What do you like most about being on varsity?
A: Brooke: “The level of competition and better play.”
A: Jules: “The level of competition. The girls who we play with are so nice and I don’t even remember that some of them are two years older then me.”
Q: What are your goals for the upcoming season?
A: Brooke: “To win as many games as possible and to make the playoffs. We are competing in a tough league and all the games we play are going to be close games. We just have to finish them early.”
A: Jules: “Well I really hope to make playoffs and maybe even the finals and championships. We definitely have the talent and skill to make it that far and we have such a great group of girls.”
Q: Do you play on a travel team?
A: Brooke: “ We both play together on a premier team, Dix Hills Hornets.” We know each others’ strengths and weaknesses and we work off of that. Jules and I work well together since we’ve been playing together for so long.”
A: Jules: “We’ve been playing together since 4th grade.”
Q: How do you juggle your academics and sports?
A: Brooke: “It takes a lot of time management. The hardest thing with sports is managing your time and although school has to be your main priority you have to juggle both to the best of your ability. You have to give up social kind of things and going out with friends in order to get the job done.”
A: Jules: “I’ll have to say its a little tough for me since I’m not a star student but school and soccer are my number one priority for me so everything else I put aside until I get done what needs to get done.”
Q: What’s your favorite music?
A: Brooke: “T-swift!”
A: Jules: “I’m all about dat T-swizzle swag.”
Q: What was your favorite cartoon when you were younger?
A: Jules: “The big comfy couch pretty much told me the basics of life.”
A: Brooke: “Same as Jules but also I liked the Rugrats.”
