SAT Prep…Worth It?

WHB is one of the only schools in our area that offers SAT Prep built into the school day for free. However, some students have mixed reviews about whether SAT Prep class helped them on their tests, and some have chosen not to take the class based on their friend’s bad feedback.

SAT Prep may not be the most fun class, but the results on your SAT are bound to go up after practicing for an entire semester. To get great results, the key is staying dedicated and working hard. Mrs. Wiles, the English teacher for SAT Prep said, “Students always improve – well, students who work always improve. Even students who don’t necessarily work hard improve. The people who don’t improve are the ones that absolutely refuse to try – those kids that take the class because an adult has made them and just would really rather be anywhere else BUT SAT Prep!”

If you want to be in the class, SAT Prep is a great tool to use to your advantage.  Guidance Counselor Mr. Garvey said, “It is wonderful that we can offer the SAT Prep course. SAT preparatory classes outside of school often cost a great deal of money.  The SAT Prep course gives every student this opportunity regardless of economic background.  Students often have very busy schedules and to find time in their hectic schedules for an SAT prep class outside of school can be impossible.”

A big part of SAT prep is taking practice sections and getting used to seeing the questions. Mrs. Wiles said, Once you take enough practice sections, you’ll start to recognize the patterns!  Be open-minded, and attack the test like it’s a game that you have to win. Corny but true!”

If you want a great score on your SAT and are willing to work, SAT Prep is definitely an amazing option that you should take advantage of. It can do nothing but help!
