Being Thankful

Thanksgiving is a time of giving thanks and appreciating the things around us.  It is a time for family, friends, and giving. We all have so much to be thankful for, and with everything going on in the world right now, a little appreciation and thankfulness can have a huge, positive affect on one’s life. The little things can make someone’s day, so be thankful for what you have.

Junior Alex Patricolo is thankful for having a home to live in. He appreciates it because his extended family stays there when they visit on weekends and holidays.  He likes being connected to this whole family, although throughout the year he said, “I kind of lose my thankfulness, but each year it recharges at Thanksgiving.” He continued, “ Not just Thanksgiving, I’m always lucky.”

Senior Kevin Cino is thankful for his mother.“ I would have nothing if she wasn’t in my life.” He is thankful for her all year round no matter what. He finds being thankful to be beneficial because without his mom’s support in his life, nothing would matter.

Mr. Hilly is thankful for Economics only being a half-year course because it isn’t his favorite thing to teach. Mr. Hilly said, “I’m an imperfect being whose emotions tend to fluctuate based upon external factors out of my control.” So he tries to be thankful as much as he can. He counts his blessing on this specific holiday because he gets turkey!

Being thankful isn’t always just celebrated or noticed on every fourth Thursday in November; people appreciate things every day of their life, which can only have a positive outcome. Start recognizing the beauties in your life and appreciate more!
