Selling Pink Bows to Raise Awareness
October 20, 2021
The WHBHS cheer team sold pink bows in October in hopes to raise money to support breast cancer awareness.
In the past, the WHB student government has sold the pink bows to everyone, but this year the cheerleaders took over. During October, WHB cheerleaders wear pink bows to show support.
On Pink Day during spirit week, WHB students wear as much pink and wear the bows that the cheerleaders made to support.
This year the school has raised about 116 dollars to donate. The foundation really appreciated the fact that we donated as much as we could.
Olivia Galway, a cheerleader at WHB, has had personal experience with the disease. Her mother, Kim Galway, has metastatic breast cancer and is thrilled that the school is raising money to support the cause. Galway said, “ I am incredibly proud of the WHBHS cheer team for taking the initiative to raise funds for research by selling bows. They have not only raised awareness, but are making an actual difference in helping save lives.”
