For WHB students who are looking to get involved in a fun after school activity, Debate Club is a great option.

According to adviser Ms. Capon, “Debate club is fun for people who like a good argument, but it also helps build respect for other people’s points of view.”

Debate Club meets Tuesdays in room 203. Students who missed the first meeting have nothing to worry about because anyone can join. Officers were enthusiastically elected and topics for debate were chosen.

The plan for the club now is to debate in teams every other Tuesday. Eventually, they hope to debate with other school’s teams.

Ms. Capon said “Club members make time to build their argument and learn to fight with words and reason. They learn how to get others to see their side, and/or learn how to concede graciously; all good skills for the modern workplace!”
