Ryan Knieriman is a Hawk! His athletic and academic persistence has paid off, He is committed to play baseball for SUNY New Paltz in the fall.
New Paltz, located in upstate NY, was appealing due to its location. Knieriman says, “It’s also super convenient not being too far away from home. My parents can come watch me without having to drive super far.”
Ryan has chosen to continue his baseball career because he “simply loves the sport.” He said, “I was going back and forth in my head about continuing playing. The thought of me hanging everything up for good made me sad and I knew I had to keep playing.”
Ryan has been an essential part of the WHB baseball team for many years. He has always been one of the strongest hitters, best baserunners, and overall the most dominant and consistent pitcher on the mound.
Ryan finished his last season for the Hurricanes by winning an All-League award. Last year, he won Academic All-League.
Kevin Smith, a junior on the baseball team, says, “Ryan is clearly our best player. Through rough times he is always still playing his hardest and doing everything he can to help us win.”
