Miller Making Moves
October 24, 2021
Local surfer, junior Miller Brennan, scored a sick sponsorship with Rip Curl Surf Company this summer due to this amazing surfing skills.
Rip Curl noticed Miller at a surf competition. “There is a surf comp that Rip Curl holds every year that I participate in. They noticed me at the comps, and Shawn Mett, owner of Island Surf, contacted a merchandise rep.”
Mett called Rip Curl’s rep Dan Hopkins and let him know about Miller. Hopkins was super interested in Miller and decided to sponsor him.
RipCurl agreed to sponsor Miller because of his “ability, tenaciousness, and attitude,” according to Mett.
Miller now represents Rip Curl in competitions, wears Rip Curl merch 24/7, and has a lot of extra publicity in the local area.
Along with being sponsored by Rip Curl, Miller is apart of the Hurricane student body. He plays for the lacrosse team, participates in student government, and has above average grades.
Miller is very dedicated to his academics but hopes to find a college near the water to continue his surfing career after high school. He said, “I hope to go to college where there is waves.”
When Miller isn’t in school, you can find him surfing. A year-round surfer since 8 years old, Miller says his skills have been growing and improving due to his dad, Kevin’s, teaching skills. His skills reached such a great level that Miller now teaches other kids to surf alongside his dad at the Island Surf surf camp.
All of Miller’s friends and family are super excited and proud of Miller. Keep surfing!
