The cast and crew have been working hard and are excited to bring to you the fall play Clue! This play has it all, from murder to black mail to so much comedy.
Clue is a play that was inspired by the 1985 movie which is inspired by the Hasbro board game. It is a show about murder mystery. You never know who is the killer or who is going to die until they are found dead. The story is about six people who are invited to a mysterious dinner party. Miss Scarlett, Mr.Green, Professor Plum, Mrs. Peacock, Mrs. White and Colonel Mustard. Other characters in Clue are Wadsworth (the butler), Yvette, the cook, Mr. Body, the motorist and more! Everyone in the cast is beyond excited to share the show with you.
The director Kimet Speed makes the show so enjoyable for the students to work on because of all the hard work she puts in. The cast is glad that she likes to work with them as much as they like to work with her! Speed shares, “I love working with all of the students as we figure out elements of blocking and comedy together. There are some scenes that you envision in your head as the director, but often that vision changes or is inspired to go in other directions once you have actors bringing life into the characters they are portraying.”
Senior Ava Kuklis, who is playing the part of Mrs. Peacock, said, “My favorite part of being in the show is spending time in a community that has a shared interest and common goal. As a busy person, having the chance at quality time with people I care about is very important to me.”
Not only is the acting going to be impressive, but the set is immaculate! The set was rented from Gateway playhouse. There are secret doors, platforms that spin to get from room to room, tracks for different items to be moved on and more.
Our crew behind the scenes has been working so hard on getting this show where it needs to be. With so many different aspects to the show like lights, sound, costumes, and props it sometimes goes unnoticed.
Junior Anderson Hipp, who is working on props and wardrobe said, “It can be hard finding different props and costumes for everyone depending on what they are and what you want visually for the show.”
Everyone is thrilled for opening night! In order to stay on track some goals are being put in place. The producer Mr. Andrew said, “I think we want to make sure we show up to rehearsal every day with a clear idea of areas we can improve or things we can add that will enhance the show even a little bit.”
Speed said, “Our set is now in place, so this week, we need to get used to all of our set changes. Next we need to master using and keeping track of all of our props. At the end of this week, we should start to see some lighting in action. Tech week is next week, so we will begin to use our costumes and microphones. Of course our actors need to make sure all of their lines are well memorized.”
She continued, “Their deadline for this was October 15. This gives the actors plenty of time to really develop their characters and find ways to interact with their castmates, the set, their props and costumes.”
Come see the show on November 1st, 2nd at 7:00pm and November 3rd at 2:00pm at the Westhampton Beach District Auditorium. Let’s fill the auditorium!
