As April begins, the junior class is in full swing preparing for prom. The juniors will spend April 25th at the Westhampton Beach Country Club for the annual Junior Prom.
What dresses are everyone wearing? What are some changes this year from others? What are people most excited about? Any pressing prom questions you have will be answered in this article.
With spring break arriving in less than a week, the stress of prom is setting in. We wanted to give some insight into the behind the scenes of prom.
Junior class advisor Mrs. Schmieder shared information about what she and the junior officers have been doing to prepare. She said, so far, “Planning the menus, tables and collecting money, permission slips” has been completed.
Mrs. Schmieder said her favorite part of the junior prom is “seeing everyone have fun on the dance floor.” Some changes to prom this year are that there will be flexibility with the seating this year and for the first time the prom will end at 10 pm instead of 11 pm.
The biggest decision for junior girls is what to wear. A top choice was Lucy in the Sky (online) and Estelle’s in Farmingdale. Ella Warner and Maggie Koltzan both got their dresses from Babyboo Boutique online, and both reported loving their dresses; they were high quality and came in quickly, with enough time to get tailored and commit to their choice.
Katie Burke initially ordered a dress from Peppermayo, but the company kept delaying the shipping of the dress, so she had to order a separate one from Lucy in the Sky to be safe.
The best part of prom is up for debate, between getting ready and taking pictures, however, it goes without saying that the winner of the show is the dance floor. Alexa Detke shared, “I am most excited to dance with all of my friends.”
The junior class made some “must play” song requests that they want to hear played. Including, but not limited to the clean versions: “Nokia,” “Mo Bamba,” “Again,” “You Belong With Me,” “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody” (for our AP Lang students and Great Gatsby fans), and of course “Beauty and The Beat” by the one and only J.B.
Remember, juniors, get to the school by 6:30 to get on the bus to the Westhampton Beach Country Club. Let’s make this prom one of the best! See you April 25th!
