Mr. Zenie, who began teaching at Westhampton Beach in September, is a new member of the wrestling staff and physical education department.
A graduate of Walt Whitman High School in Huntington, Mr. Zenie was a multi-sport athlete, playing lacrosse, baseball, throwing shot put, and golfing for a season. His junior year, Zenie started wrestling again after a childhood neck injury caused him to stop wrestling.
After high school, Zenie attended The Citadel for two years before transferring to Brockport to wrestle.
Mr. Zenie will be coaching varsity wrestling for WHB. His coaching experience includes Half Hollow Hills West and St. John Fisher University.
Sophomore wrestler Andrew Lewis said, “Coach Zenie has brought a new sense of urgency into the room that wasn’t there last year. He helps us all by staying after practice on his own time to watch film and give advice, which helps us improve as a team.”
Sophomore Alex Rose says, “I have him for gym 2nd period; he’s a good teacher and is fair to us.”
Zenie says, “I am thankful for the excellent students and supportive staff, as well as the small community atmosphere at Westhampton Beach.”
We welcome Mr. Zenie and wish him a long career here at WHBHS!
