Not all juniors are committing to college, and definitely not all juniors are committing to play D1 lacrosse at a dream college; but Ava Failla gets to do both. Ava will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Drexel University.
Ava is known for her communication skills on the field and how well she works with the team. Coach Bergmann the WHBGVL coach said, “Ava is aggressive and competitive and gives 110 percent while playing. Ava always has her mind on the win and what she can do to benefit her team.”
Bergmann continued,“Committing to a school like Drexel has always been one of Avas goals and something she had set her mind to.”
Bergmann believes that a school like this is perfect for Ava and her outgoing personality.
Drexel University is well known for their academics and their co-op program which is where students alternate classes with full-time employment through University-approved employers. This was extremely attractive to Ava. Ava said, “I plan on majoring in either the health sciences or bio pre-med.”
What made Ava commit to Drexel is the impressive facilities for both academics and athletics; Ava also bonded with both the players and coaches automatically. She said, “Drexel has very impressive facilities academically and athletically, their lacrosse team has been extremely successful in the past few years, and the current players and coaches solidified my love for the school because of their welcoming personalities and kindness.”
Many Drexel players talked to Ava about the amazing relationships they have with their coaches.
Ava plays for the Long Island Top Guns Black which is consistently a top 10 team in the nation. Ava would like to thank her Top Guns coaches for all of their support and involvement in her continued improvement in lacrosse.
“I never pictured myself going to a city school until I visited Drexel,” Ava said.
We wish Ava the best of luck in her new endeavors.
