You may have noticed a woman sitting in the office downstairs across from the girls’ bathroom. She’s usually behind her computer screen, busy working on something.
That something is data processing, where all of your grades get recorded into the Internet, making it possible to view your grades on PowerSchool. Mrs. Paulette Dalder is the woman behind this big process.
“Mrs. Dalder’s role in data processing is definitely one of the many important positions in our school district,” said Dr. Finn, the director of the Counseling Center.
“The data processing office is a very busy place,” Mrs. Dalder said. She explained that it is where all of the students’ information and grades are put in the computer, organized, and then put on Power School. It helps to keep the school orderly, while it makes it possible to also view it at anytime you want. “We store students grades Kindergarten through 12th, and print all the report cards and college transcripts.” All day, new students are enrolled into the system, students who moved are withdrawn from the system, and any other vital information is added. This is all done and made possible by Mrs. Dalder and her co-worker Megan in their office.
Mrs. Dalder chuckled when told that her job was important in the school, but from what she does it can be predicted that her work is pretty important. Dr. Finn added, “Mrs. Dalder does a yeoman’s job in making sure the database and the users of PowerSchool in all its forms can accomplish their job each and every day.”
So next time you’re on your way past the little office downstairs, stop by and see where data processing is taking place!
